Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag thought Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter's relationship was a facade: 'They're living two separate lives'
They've never been afraid of speaking their minds.
Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag expressed their doubts about the sanctity of Brody Jenner's marriage to Kaitlynn Carter during Monday night's episode of The Hills: New Beginnings.
The couple were celebrating their 10-year wedding anniversary with a luxury cruise around the harbor when Jenner and Carter were brought up in conversation.
Curious: Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag expressed their doubts about the sanctity of Brody Jenner's marriage to Kaitlynn Carter during Monday's episode of The Hills: New Beginnings
'Brody and Kaitlynn are over at the gala, pretending they're George Clooney and Amal,' Pratt said. 'I'm sure they're kissing babies and waving to all their fans.'
The former couple called it quits a few weeks ago and nearly one year after a lavish wedding ceremony in Indonesia.
It was recently revealed that they were never even married during the extravaganza after failing to secure a marriage license.

'It's funny because when you watch their social media, they have two separate lives and they barely see each other,' Heidi noted.
'Then when you're in person with them, they have this whole facade like they have this amazing marriage, and they're always together and it seems like two different lives they're living.'
TMZ reported that the reality stars went their separate ways after Brody was against starting a family, something Kaitlynn seriously desired throughout the MTV show.

Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter seemed to have the perfect relationship on The Hills: New Beginnings on Monday as she threw a black-tie gala for her online fashion marketplace Foray.
'I absolutely scored the jackpot with Kaitlynn,' Brody, 35, said. 'She's gorgeous, she's fun, she's smart. ...She worked really, really hard on this gala. I feel like a proud husband.'

Brody's former pal Spencer Pratt and wife Heidi Montag noted the couple have had cracks in their relationship.
'Brody and Kaitlynn are at the gala, pretending they are George Clooney and Amal,' quipped Spencer, 35. 'I am sure they are kissing babies and waving to all their fans.'
'It's funny because when you watch their social media, they have two separate lives, and they barely see each other,' Heidi, 32, replied. 'Then, when you're in person with them, they have this whole façade like they have this amazing marriage.'
'Kaitlynn thinks she can train Brody to be who she wants, like this Stepford husband, but that's not happening,' Spencer observed. 'I'm sorry. I know him too well.'
Gala event: Kaitlynn hosted a formal event to promote her fashion marketplace Foray and her friends got dressed up for it
'I wish them the best of luck, because they seem to need it,' Heidi offered.
'I don't,' Spencer rejoined.
The gala served as a focal point for the episode, forcing cast members to examine their relationships and behavior.

Audrina Patridge, who was determined to put her ex Justin 'Bobby' Brescia behind her, took singer Ryan Cabrera, 37, as her 'plus one'.
They dated when she was younger, but he was 'more than an ex,' Audrina, 34, revealed over lunch with pal Ashley Slack, 30.
'He's just like the nicest, most supportive, the best person I've ever met,' she said.

Ashley attended the gala with husband Jason Wahler, 32, a recovering alcoholic who was nervous about going after he had a slip with alcohol.
The day it happened, he was feeling depressed, Ashley told Audrina.
Jason said he was going to make a phone call, but instead bought liquor.
Tough time: Ashley Slack earlier told Audrina about her husband Jason Wahler having an alcoholic relapse
His previous stint of steady drinking, which lasted years, 'was the worst place I have ever been in my entire life,' Ashley noted.
'There's some times I would leave the house and I literally didn't know if I was going to see him again,' she continued. 'And I was in such a bad place, I really didn't know what to do.'
'It's not like he's drinking 'cause he wants to have fun,' she told Audrina, crying. 'He's drinking 'cause he hates the feeling of his own skin. That makes me so sad.'
Brandon Thomas Lee, 23, was just starting a new relationship.

His girlfriend Ashley stayed at the house for a week and as they shared breakfast one morning, they decided to be exclusive.
He also planned to take her to the gala.
'I'm going through my checklist and I'm just like: She's definitely hot as f***, she's got a good laugh, she smiles a lot… I don't know, I have a hard time saying no to that,' Brandon said.

His friend Justin, 37, brought Lindsey Pelas, his new girlfriend.
As he played pool with his pal Stephanie Pratt, 33, in the days before the gala, he avoided saying anything about her.
'Justin would be the best criminal,' Stephanie opined. 'He's so good at dodging questions.'
Gala date: Justin Brescia brought Lindsey as his date to the gala
She told him that she had directed Audrina's attention to Lindsey at their recent Friendsgiving dinner, using her as proof that she and Justin were not involved, and never had been.
'It's up to you to be like, ''I know the truth. Bye'',' Justin said.
He asked her Stephanie if she was going to the gala, and she said she hadn't been invited—no surprise, as Brody had unleashed on her in a recent argument.

He had heard that Stephanie dismissed as uninteresting the wildfires that recently threatened his home, which he risked his life to fight.
'Kaitlynn's gala is the last place I want to be,' Stephanie explained. 'Brody hasn't apologized for his aggressive attack rant, and I want nothing to do with him.'
Justin told her Audrina had stirred Brody up.

'I've never had a friend come after me so hard,' Stephanie marveled.
Her brother, Spencer, was planning to skip the gala and celebrate his 10th wedding anniversary with Heidi.
He was shown at home, sparring with his jiu jitsu trainer, Edwin Najmi.

'Going from being a multimillionaire to no money, I gained 100 pounds,' Spencer revealed. 'All I did was sleep and eat pie.'
He now spent six days a week in jiu jitsu training.
As he practiced, Heidi looked over their bills, concerned that Spencer was spending too recklessly.
'This month, you spent over $30,000 in clothes, and then $3,000 on wine,' she marveled.
Spending limits: Heidi Montag urged Spencer to watch his spending
'I feel like that is major progress,' Spencer said. 'Just 10 years ago, we were drinking wine that was $3,400 a bottle.'
'This month, in jewelry, you spent $10,000,' she rejoined.
'I feel, energetically, as I spend money, I'm manifesting more money,' Spencer told Heidi.
She wanted him to maximize their savings.
Manifest more: Spencer insisted that he could manifest more money
'The bank is imaginary,' he retorted. 'We're going to do something special.'
He had planned a major surprise for their anniversary, after which he vowed to stop overspending.
As he geared up for the gala, Brandon had lunch with his mom, actress Pamela Anderson.

He didn't see her too much now that she lived in France, he pointed out.
'She comes back every once in a while, but she just wants to be a little old lady in France, I feel like.'
She teased him about not shaving his beard.
In town: Pamela was in town visiting while living in France
'My mom is my best friend, but she is such a stickler for everything,' Brandon said. 'I remember one time I wasn't tan… and she goes, ''You look like a sock''.'
'I was like, ''Are you f***ing kidding me?'''
He and his mom were hopeless romantics, Brandon added, pointing out that she and his father, musician Tommy Lee, got married after four days.
'He proposed to me on the first day,' Pam pointed out. 'I played hard to get.'

Brandon told her he had recently texted Tommy to try to put their recent squabbles in the past and they planned to meet soon.
'We've had our fights in the past, but this one kind of got out of control and it got into the public eye,' Brandon said, regretfully.
'For a long time, I thought my dad was never going to have anything to do with me again.'

Over lunch with Spencer, Jason detailed his recent slip.
'I had a really tough day, and got a bottle, and drank a fifth, and that's what it was,' he confessed.
Once in terrific physical shape, he explained that he had seen photos of himself from a recent event and realized he had gained a lot of weight—30 pounds, to be precise.
It was 'a tipping point,' he said.
'I was just so uncomfortable and I just couldn't take it anymore,' Jason noted in a confessional.
Tipping point: Jason confessed that his 'tipping point' revolved around his weight gain
'I thought about my wife, and I thought about [my daughter] Delilah, whether I should be doing it or not, and I still did it.'
'I thought drinking was gonna be the solution, and it wasn't.'
Spencer related, saying he'd gone from 170 to 250 pounds by overeating when he was feeling depressed.
'The last time I did that, it was three years,' Jason reflected, noting that at least he ended up 'catching it' this time, reaching out to others who were working the same program.
Been there: Spencer empathized and shared his own weight gain story
'Without Ashley, I don't think that I would be alive,' he added, saying he wanted to be sober for her.
Before the gala, Audrina and Mischa went on a boat ride with Ryan, who brought his guitar.
'There's no label or anything,' she told Mischa. 'We really enjoy each other and whatever happens, happens.'
Good times: Audrina was having fun with Ryan on a boat with their friends
She played harmonica as Ryan strummed, to the delight of their two passengers.
'It's really fun to see her happy and free like this,' Mischa said, noting that Ryan was the total opposite of Justin.
For their anniversary, Spencer and Heidi also went on a boat, drinking champagne and looking through a scrapbook of their 12 years together that he had prepared.
Musical skills: She played harmonica while Ryan strummed his guitar and sang
'We've been together for so long, and we've defied so many odds,' Heidi said, praising their 'sacred bond.' 'I love him now 100 times more than when I met him.'
They ate a lobster dinner—Heidi's favorite—together and she revealed she wanted to renew her vows and have another baby.
At the gala, the rest of the cast swanned around, the lights making everyone look glamorous and Kaitlynn was in her element.
'Having my own career makes me feel very fulfilled,' she said. 'I would never want just to be known as anybody's wife.'
