Made In Chelsea's Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo put on a united front amid SPLIT rumours... as they risk an awkward run in with her ex Sam Thompson at series launch

They recently hit back at claims they had split following the news he would be appearing on the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing.

However Jamie Laing, 30, and Sophie Habboo, 25, put on a defiant display as they posed together after a source revealed they are 'very much together', at the series 18 launch for Made In Chelsea on Tuesday.

The couple were under added pressure on the day following rumours of a split, as they also risked an awkward run in with Sophie's ex and Jamie's former BFF Sam Thompson, who has made a shock return to the show.

Fans have speculated that Sam, 26, has returned to the E4 reality show to confront his former flame and best friend over their new romance, after they got together in the wake of his failed romance with Sophie.

The couple have already had to weather a few storms in their relationship so far, after it was claimed they had split over fears they would be hit by the 'Strictly Curse' during his time on the dancing show. 

It was claimed that the Made In Chelsea beauty, was nervous of her co-star beau, getting up close to a bevy of beautiful dancers as he 'struggles with monogamy at the best of times'.

A source revealed to Mail On Sunday: 'As Sophie knew fellow Made In Chelsea personality Jamie had been chosen to appear on Strictly Come Dancing, she gave him the elbow, claiming lothario Laing struggles with monogamy at the best of times, let alone while he’s dancing the tango with a beautiful woman.'

However, a spokesperson for Sophie revealed the couple were still on, stating: 'they are very much together.' 

There may be further trouble ahead of for the duo, as Sam is making a comeback to Made In Chelsea as he appears in the show's brand new trailer ahead of series 18.

A new trailer for the show features throwback snaps of the cast in a nostalgic montage, with Sam taking centre stage.

Images include a younger Sam with Jamie in happier times, with the clip also seeing Jamie and Sophie share a passionate kiss.

The video also includes a clip of Sam in the present day, cementing his return to the hit series, following his departure in March this year.

Opening up about why he walked away from the show after six years, Sam admitted to Heart Radio that he struggled to deal with his recent break-up from co-star Sophie aka 'Habbs'.

The TV personality, who Sophie from last May till November, admitted to breakfast hosts Lucy Horobin and Jamie Theakston: 'Getting dumped all the time was chipping away at my confidence'.

Detailing the break-up, he elaborated: 'You don't want to be around your ex. Everyone on there is now more her friend and a lot of my friends have upped and left.

However, he also didn't rule out a comeback to the show, telling Digital Spy: 'I think: "just do what you think is fun". I think that’s just the main thing you do, really. So I don’t shut the door on anything.'

It was also reported earlier this year that Sam and Jamie had fallen out after Jamie tested their friendship by cracking on with Sophie.

A source revealed to The Sun in May: 'Sam has been left devastated by Jamie’s actions. They’ve been close friends for years and Jamie knows how heartbroken Sam was when Habbs finished with him.'

With Sam returning to the Chelsea fold, there's a strong possibility that he could confront Jamie over his actions.

Away from the show, Sam is now happily loved up with Zara McDermott, with the Love Island beauty recently throwing her beau a Harry Potter themed party.

Joining Sam and Jamie for the new series are regulars Olivia Bentley, Alex Mytton, Mark Francis Vandelli, Miles Nazaire, James Taylor, Sophie ‘Habbs’ Habboo, Sophie Hermann, Harry Barron and Melissa Tattam, Fredrick Ferrier and Eliza Batten.

While newcomers to series 17 returning include Maeva D'Ascanio, Verity Scarlett Bowditch, Freddie Brown, Amelia Mist, Rosi Mai, Angus Findlay, Hugo Leefe and Sammy Allsop.

In addition to alumnae Sam returning to the cast, Victoria Baker-Harber, Oliver Proudlock and Emily Blackwell will also be making guest appearances.

Sam first emerged on the reality TV scene in MIC's sixth series in 2013 as Louise's protective younger brother.

The CBB star quickly forged close friendships with co-stars Spencer Matthews and Jamie, and embarked on a series of short-lived romances.

Hunky Sam's most high-profile relationship was with Tiffany Watson from 2014 till 2017, before she officially called it quits after he kissed Canadian beauty Mimi Bouchard during a trip in Ibiza in July 2017.
